A chance for industrial manufacturers, procurement professionals and supply chain experts to discover the latest green innovations
Building a stronger market for Bio-based products
Biomass and biobased products have a variety of applications and products making the potential for the bioeconomy to scale up, an exciting prospect. The Bio Based Innovations Expo 2018 showcases the most progressive technologies, bio-based materials & biodegradable products, provides a learning platform for new innovations and connects investors, innovators & purchasers to help grow the bio-economy and ensure it reaches it’s true potential.
For the second year running, we are now expanding to a day 2 exhibition, building on the success of the 2017 event, make sure that you join colleagues from throughout the bioeconomy and see the latest innovations that have been inspired by nature and created from organic feedstocks.
What you will discover:
- How to stimulate expansion and market generation for your products
- Ways to enhance the quality and competitiveness of bio based innovations
- Cutting edge technologies that add value to your products
- Effective ways to work with governments and influence positive regulatory reform
Access to 2 co-located exhibitions
Bio-based Innovations will be co-located with The UK AD & World Biogas Expo 2018 and The Wastewater & Sewage Treatment Expo 2018 which means that when you register you can attend all sessions, exhibition stands and networking at every event.
These 3 events are part of the circular economy series and cover how to create value from organic feedstocks, whether you are abstracting organic matter through wastewater, sewage and effluent treatment or using those feedstocks to create innovative bio-based and biodegradable products or generating power, heat & fuel through AD.
The Bio-based innovations expo 2017 had 200+ visitors coming from across the bioeconomy and included:

The potential for bio-based solutions to contribute to the UK economy is skyrocketing.
BBIA’s mission is to unite those working in the biodegradable and bio-based industries and to develop partnerships with those who share our vision: to put the bioeconomy agenda at the centre of the political debate on sustainability and economic growth in the UK.
To open up opportunities and standards in the emerging green economy market, BBIA will work with companies and organisations involved in the production of bio-based and biodegradable chemicals and polymers for the benefit of the environment.
Launched in 2014 The Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC) was set up to bridge the gap between education and industry.
We are specialists in the industrial biotechnology (IB) sector, with a deep embedded knowledge and the technical expertise to help stimulate the growth and success of the IB industry in Scotland by connecting the dots between industry, academia and government. We represent all four colours of IB, facilitating collaborations and guiding organisations from a concept or idea, through to industry adoption.
Our vision is to create a truly distinctive, world-leading innovation centre for industrial biotechnology. We will accelerate and de-risk the development of commercially viable, sustainable solutions for high-value manufacturing in chemistry-using and life science sectors. By 2030 our target is to generate £1 to £1.5bn of Gross Value Added contribution annually to the Scottish economy, this represents a growth of revenue from today’s estimated value of £190M, to between £2 and £3bn.
