The role of the bio-economy within the circular economy

Dale Walker, Project Manager, Project Mainstream, Ellen Macarthur Foundation Dale joined the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in 2014 upon the completion of his master’s degree. He is currently seconded to the World Economic Forum in Geneva where he is continuing the work of Project Mainstream to tackle systemic stalemates in global material flows that are too big or too complex for an individual business, city or government to overcome alone. Dale also provides support for the annual Disruptive Innovation Festival. Dale hails from South Africa where he completed his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Cape Town. Following a year of travelling around Australia, New Zealand and the USA he moved to the UK to study for a master’s degree, graduating with an MDes in Innovation and Creativity in Industry from Cranfield University. While studying at Cranfield, Dale was selected to join the Foundation’s Schmidt MacArthur Fellowship programme to conduct research into the circular economy. His research project explored the potential future of the fast-moving consumer goods industry in a circular economy
